Devonport Primary School

Tuesday, 26th September

Dear parents,

It was with genuine sadness that my resignation from DPS was announced yesterday. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at DPS, working in a wonderful community, with a talented staff and outstanding children. I had anticipated being at DPS for longer.

As an educator, my long term career goal has always been to lead a large intermediate school. In my perfect world, that school would be Murrays Bay Intermediate where I have previously taught. Principal positions in intermediates rarely come up and this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn't overlook.

Although I will depart at the end of week 6, I will remain connected to the school through until the end of the year, and will attend the end of year functions and celebrations.

Over the next 6 weeks there will be plenty of time for saying thank you and good bye, but for now I wanted to acknowledge our wonderful board of trustees for the wonderful support they have shown to me during the past 3 years. The calibre and commitment of the board of trustees has a huge impact on the school and a principal's ability to do a quality job. At DPS we have a really wonderful board.

It will be business as usual at school for the next 6 weeks, and then I will pass my responsibilities over into the very capable hands of Mrs Booth until a new principal is appointed.

Have a wonderful safe holiday break,  keep well and I will see you all next term.
