The weather turned it on just in time for the annual Manawatu College Tabloid Sports competition!

This week Waynne Napier announced his resignation from the position of senior Deputy Principal, relinquishing many of his current responsibilities while retaining some as he continues in a full-time middle management and teaching role in the College.

On Saturday 25 February Mrs Garner, along with six eager students went tramping for their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Tramp.

Day one of the annual Inter-House competition was held on Tuesday 21st February on what felt like the first real day of summer for 2017!

On Wednesday 15 February I attended the final two sessions of the RYDA (Rotary Youth Driving Awareness) programme where the Year 12 students from Manawatu College and Horowhenua College and the seniors of Te Kuro Kaupapa Maori o Te Rito were participating.

The House Captains were awarded their badges at the first assembly for the year.

The NCEA results for 2016 were very pleasing and there were a number of course endorsements awarded to our students.

This year we are excited to have Whaioro Trust providing the Alternative Education programme Te Ata Kura for Horowhenua, Waiopehu and Manawatu College students.

This competition took place at the Lido Aquatic Centre in Palmerston North on the 4th and 5th February.

On Thursday 2nd February, all of the year 9 students set off down to the Foxton Beach Bible Camp for a night of fun.

On Wednesday 1st February Manawatu College held its opening Powhiri to welcome a number of new students and staff into the College.

There are a number of new teachers this year which is exciting for the College. 

On the 27th and 28th of January Sam has been competing at Judgement Day crossfit competition in Hawkes Bay

While most of us were clinging on to the end of our summer holidays, year 13 student Chelsea Parlato was competing in her first major swimming competition of the year. 

Hello, I’m Maddi Parlato and between January 14th and 28th I spent what was probably the best two weeks of my life at the Rotary National Youth Science and Technology Forum in Auckland.

In keeping with tradition, the new senior student leaders were announced and presented with their badges at our recent Senior Prizegiving ceremony. Each applicant completed a fairly rigorous process involving a written application, an interview, talking to the school about their application, and having students and staff express their preferences for each position and it gives us great pleasure to present our 2017 Senior Student Leadership Team.
