TERM ONE - Monday 27th January - Thursday 9th April.

2019 has been another busy year for Manawatu College.

All students are required to have the following items of stationery for the first day of the school year - Monday 27th January (Years 11 - 14 only) - Tuesday 28th January (Years 9 & 10 only).

Mr Fraser will be officially welcomed into Manawatu College with a full-school powhiri on Monday 3rd February.

Our end of year Junior and Senior Prizegiving was held in the College Hall on Friday 6th December, this year.

The end of the 2019 school year was Mr Allan's fortieth year teaching at Manawatu College.

On Monday 9th December we held our annual Orientation Day to provide the Year 8s who have enrolled with us the opportunity to become more familiar with the College.

Congratulations to Robertson House who took out the Inter-House Competition this year! House Captains Aaliyah Thorby and Saryah Chambers received the trophy on behalf of their house at Prizegiving.

It was a very successful competition for these young ladies to finish the year.

On Wednesday, 4th December we had our annual year 13 graduation dinner at Gengys in Palmerston North.

This project was worth 24 NCEA credits and gave the students valuable, hands-on skills in a real-life context.

On Friday, 6th December before Prizegiving, we had our traditional strawberries and icecream morning tea with our year 13 graduates and the staff.

On the last week of school each year, our junior students enjoy a week of fun, educational activities put on by the learning faculties in the school.

On Sunday, 1st December, 20 of our year 10 students departed for a week-long camp at the College's Outdoor Education Centre in Raurimu.

On Sunday, 25th November our Junior Girls' Volleyball team set off for Tauranga for the week, to compete in the National Secondary Schools Volleyball Tournament.

Caitlin was awarded her scholarship for her achievements in netball.

Congratulations to Deon McDougal, Hannah Pickworth, Tomos Dobbins, Tracey Byron, Trent Watson, Jayden Gunn, Waylon Eadie, Corey Robinson and Trevor Chambers who have recently got their licences through the drivers licensing programme that Horowhenua Learning Centre, Horowhenua College, Waiopehu College, Manawatu College and the Police are working together to deliver, to help Horowhenua tertiary and secondary school students achieve a successful transition to employment.

After a period of absence, the competition was back.

These artboards are worth 14 NCEA credits for our senior Art students.

Well done, boys!

Our senior student leaders, Massie Harvey, Tabitha Anderson and Danien Bryant represented the College at this year's Armistice Day Commemoration Sevice at the Cenotaph in Foxton.

The two boys attend the JYT refereeing every Friday in Palmerston North at Monrad Park.

He was also presented with a special edition blazer for his contribution to the Foxton Rugby Club, team and town.

She also passed with the highest score in the theory test at the Foxton Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.

Congratulations to year 9 student Jorja Anderson and year 11 students Taylor Stevens, Miniah Summerell, Shelby Wells and Chloe Wright who took out Team of the Year at this year's Manawatu Secondary Schools Sports Awards.

This year, the Tower Insurance Olympic Weightlifting NZ National Champs were hosted by Functional Strength Olympic in Auckland.

Manawatu College had two stalls at the Spring Fling. Inside the Fling was a stall with baking, raffles, harakeke flowers and knitting.
