Design for Online - Workshop Series - Updated Schedule!

Having a future focused, flexible and resilient education system has never been more important in these uncertain times.This NEX Kōtuitui workshop series aims to help move schools beyond 'emergency remote teaching' and support teachers and school leaders to strengthen their confidence and capability in teaching and learning online.

These workshops follow on from the VLN Community PLD series that were run as part of the MoE Covid19 response and are based on feedback from participating teachers and led by our experienced eteachers

  1. Managing change and uncertainty - Is your school community ready and confident to take learning online? What helps schools to be more resilient and responsive to the changing learning landscape? What can leaders in our schools and education system do to support our teachers and learners in flexible, online and blended learning? Wednesday 26th August 3.30 pm

  2. Designing online programmes 
    This workshop covers specific aspects of online programme design. How to plan and structure learning, key principles of online design, blended learning, integrating online tools, structuring learning, asynchronous platforms and tools, and meeting the diverse needs of our students. Wednesday 9th September 3.30 pm

  3. Connecting with learners in real time 
    How to plan and prepare to teach online using video conferencing platforms. Explore strategies to engage and interact with your learners during real time video sessions.This is a sandpit session for those already familiar with Zoom. Principles can be applied to other real time video platforms such as Meet, Hangouts or TeamWednesday 23rd September 3.30 pm

  4. Strengthening Collaboration & Community Building
    This session explores how to build and maintain connections and relationships online and strategies that enable student collaboration. Wednesday 14th October 3.30 pm

  5. Developing and supporting learners online 
    This workshop will discuss how to support learner well being, enable student agency, develop key competencies of self-management, participating and contributing, and digital fluency. Wednesday 28th October 3.30 pm

  6. Ensuring learners progress
    How do we know our students are learning? How to monitor learning and assess students progress ensuring learning is taking place, assessment for learning. Wednesday 11th November 3.30 pm
