The Character of Parkview Pārua School

Parkview —

Parkview Pārua School is a warm and inclusive place to be as a community focussed full Primary catering to the learning needs of children aged 5 - 13 years (Year 1 - 8 students). Full primaries enable students to develop quality relationships with teachers and this is a key feature of our school. Teachers have students for two years and all teachers work in collaborative teaching teams and teaching in teams of two.

We provide a significant range of learning and leadership opportunities for every student and at Parkview Pārua School where we are able to cater for every student’s needs. At Parkview Pārua School our values are Whanaungatanga - Relationships, Manaakitanga - Belonging, Ako - Learning together and Mahi Tahi - collaboration, and these underpin everything we do in our kura.

Our school embraces school-wide digital learning and we have one:one Chromebooks for all Year 5-8 students, with one:two in the Year 3-4 learning spaces. We value self directed learning and this begins in Year 3 and continues throughout each child’s schooling. Ipads are an integral part of the junior school programme which compliments more traditional teaching methods. We have modern learning environments for Years 5 - 8 students and collaborative teaching spaces for years 0 - 4. Our school has extensive grounds, two new playgrounds, two large basketball courts, and facilities that provide for a range of learning opportunities and experiences.

Our families reflect a decile 6 middle class New Zealand community with approximately 18% Māori, 3% Pasifika and a small range of other nationalities represented in our school. We have multiple learning opportunities for our students as well as sporting, cultural, outdoor education, arts and musical experiences. It is our view that all Year 7 & 8 students have a leadership place of mana within our school whānau and foster tuakana teina relationships school-wide.
