Fred Hollows Day 2021 - Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser by PNBHS

Honouring Fred's Legacy

The annual PNBHS Fred Hollows Day allows our young men to support the lifechanging work of one of our illustrious Old Boys, the late Fred Hollows.

The Fred Hollows Foundation works to restore sight and prevent blindness around the world, with the New Zealand branch of the foundation having a special emphasis on our Pacific neighbours.  The Fred Hollows Foundation trains and supports doctors and nurses, works to strengthen health systems within developing countries as well as driving innovation and research to further the effectioveness of their life changing work.

Fred Hollows attended PNBHS from 1943 - 1947 and this is why our school community works to support the Fred Hollows Foundation and Fred's legacy.

Thanks to everyone who made a donation or purchased a sausage at one of our sausage sizzles - all of these contributions make a difference to the lives of those whose sight has been lost or is at risk.

Special thanks to the Mad Butcher Palmerston North, to the PNBHS Prefects for their organisation and to Year 10 student Ben Crocker, who has shared his Social Studies 'My Kiwi Hero - Fred Hollows' work, which you can read below.
