Farewell to our Graduating Students and Families
The end of term is always a time of mixed emotions and part of that is the sadness we feel at saying goodbye to graduating students and whānau. Many of you have been part of the Browns Bay School community for many years. Thank you for your support, your care and for being a part of team Browns Bay.
To our graduating students, please remember the message I shared at Graduation last night;
We let you go because we know you are ready. You are equipped, you are resilient and you are leaders and learners. But while you fly high, and fly far, please always remember where your roots are. You will always have a place and a legacy here at Browns Bay School. We are immensely proud of who you are and have great hope for who you will become.
As you leave a place, people often say, "Good luck." I hope you get plenty of luck, but the truth is, you don’t need it. You are already built for success.
Final Assembly Acknowledgements
At our final assembly today we acknowledged some members of our school community who have made a huge contribution to our school.
Jo Hewitt, Deb Pulman and Karen Cebalo were all acknowledged for 40 years of service to Browns Bay School. All three members of staff have made a massive contribution to our school and their service reflects what a really special place our school is.
We also acknowledged Dave and Linda Harbott. Dave has been a volunteer at our school both as a parent and a grandparent for 41 years. He has attended school camps and been a huge supporter of our Waterwise programme. Dave has given countless hours and where Dave goes Linda follows! This year Dave and Linda's grandchild graduates, which is a real milestone for the family and their connection with our school. Dave and Linda are continuing their involvement with Waterwise next year and we very much hope we can welcome more grandchildren to Browns Bay School in the coming years. What a wonderful legacy, Dave and Linda.
Road Patrol
Thanks to Jin and Jane for helping out with our Road Patrol duties this year. It makes a massive difference to teachers and students. We have more parents joining the team next year. It is a small way that you can make a big change at Browns Bay School.
...and finally...
2025 has been my first full year at Browns Bay School. It has been a year of many changes and frustrations, but that is never what dominates our thoughts and memories today. It has been another fabulous year at Browns Bay School where we have loved teaching and being with your children.
We hope you have a happy and restful Christmas and above all that you stay safe. Thank you for all the support you have shown this year and we look forward to a great 2026.
Merry Christmas.
