Thank You Morning Tea

It was lovely to see so many of our volunteers at the morning tea this week. If you were not able to attend, please take the time to read this message of thanks:

It is a genuine pleasure to take a moment and express the deep gratitude we all feel towards a group of people who make Browns Bay School not just good, but truly exceptional: our dedicated volunteers.

Our school motto, Effort Brings Reward, is something we talk about constantly with our children. We encourage them to work hard in the classroom, on the sports field, and in their relationships. This morning, I want to talk about your effort, the monumental effort you put in, and the profound reward it brings to every corner of our school.

Your involvement is everywhere, and it is vital.

Your effort is out on the water, giving our students the confidence and essential safety skills through Waterwise. Your effort is in the classrooms, helping teachers give individual attention to a child.  It's on school trips and camps, ensuring every outing is a safe, unforgettable learning experience. It is on the sidelines, coaching our sports teams and instilling the values of teamwork and persistence.

And let's not forget the incredible effort behind the scenes—from successful fundraising events that secure much-needed resources, to the strategic governance provided by our School Board. Every single hour you commit is a gift and for many people here those hours are many.

The reward of this collective effort is seen in the confidence of a child who masters a new skill, the enrichment of our curriculum, and the success of our school. For our students, your presence signals that they are valued by a wider community. For our teachers, your support is a lifeline—it allows them to focus their professional energy where it is needed most, knowing they have a committed team backing them up.

You don't just volunteer your time; you invest in futures. You are the living embodiment of our school motto.

From the bottom of our hearts—the students, the staff, and the entire Browns Bay School community—thank you. We couldn't do it without you.

Access to Programmes Over the School Holidays

I have been asked several times recently about students continuing to maintain learning over the summer holidays. It is true that some children ‘fall back’ in their learning while they are away from school, but we plan carefully at school so we have strong transitions each year and maintain high expectations of our students. It is important over the holidays that children have some time to rest after a long and busy year.

Please remember that if you have signed up to Mathletics and Reading Eggs, these are still available during the holidays and your child can access some great tools while they are away from school.

Getting Ready for Jingle/Top Tips

We are all looking forward to another great Jingle event next week. Jingle is a joyous way to end the year. Thank you if you have already brought a Jingle Jar to school.

On the day, please remember that school runs as normal until 3pm. After school we clear the school grounds so the property team can do some safety checking. Please do not come to school before 3pm to reserve a space. You are welcome to do so after 3pm.

At the end of Jingle it is a Browns Bay School tradition that Santa makes an appearance.  At the end of the performances we will ask children to return to their parents. Please listen to the announcements for further instructions on collecting your children.

If you would like to bring your child for a photo or to wave to Santa you are welcome to do so, but we ask that children are accompanied by a parent.

Thank you to FOTS for all of the hard work and courage that goes into the organisation.

Saving Hope Dog Rescue

Wow — look at what we achieved at Browns Bay School! 👏

It has been a fantastic learning journey for all of us in Year 3 as we explored the heroes in our community, with a special focus on Saving Hope Dog Rescue. Our whole school rallied together to support this important cause, and we are so grateful for everyone who donated, shared our message, and showed kindness towards dogs in need.

A huge thank you to our community for getting behind our fundraiser. Your generosity has made a real difference.

Mrs Shimmin is excited to volunteer as a foster carer with Saving Hope during the school holidays.

If fostering, adopting or supporting Saving Hope   in another way is something you're interested in, we encourage you to get in touch with their team.

Let’s continue to show kindness and make a difference in our community!
