2025 Term 4 Touch Rugby
Years 2 - 6
Dear Parent/Caregiver,
Welcome to the 2025 Touch season. This season Browns Bay School will be playing in a Local Touch Junior Module.
Please read all the information below.
THE COMPETITION
Our school will be playing on Monday’s for Years 2-6.
Children can only play in one grade.
Games will be played on Labour Day Monday 27th October.
All teams play right through until the last week, whether their grade has semi’s and finals, or just a straight round robin.
The Year 2 Competition play on a half touch field.
If team trainings are held they will be determined by the coach of the team.
VENUE
Venues cannot be confirmed until the Council allocates all bookings. Local Touch have applied for:
Mondays: Sunnynook Park
Venues will be known in September.
Local Touch asks schools/families to please be patient and flexible regarding venues.
TIME OF GAMES
Games are two 15 minute halves, with no half time break.
Game times are 4pm, 4.30pm, 5pm, 5.30pm, 6pm, (6.30pm if needed).
The Y2’s tend to play the earlier game times, and the Y5&6 the later times. But there are some overlaps, and often double-headers.
SEASON DATES
It is a 8 week competition:
First Round Games begin: Monday 20th October 2025
Final Round Games: Monday 8th December 2025
Please note that competition plays on Labour Day (Monday 27th October).
DRAWS & RESULTS
Season Draws, and weekly Results will be published on: www.localtouch.co.nz
FEES
The School’s per player fee is $60.00. Payments to be made via KINDO by 9am Tuesday 19th August 2025.
REFEREES
The Module will provide qualified referees where possible. These are mostly intermediate and high school children who have completed their Touch Module Referee Course.
Parents/Students interested in refereeing, can start with the beginners ‘Touch Module Referee Course’ which is done online at https://www.touchnz.co.nz/tnzfoundationrefereecourse
To register as a Local Touch Referee, or to enquire about becoming a Touch Referee, please email jena@localtouch.co.nz and she will forward details to the Referee Coordinator.
COACHING
Local Touch also has a Coaching Guide available on their website to download.
UNIFORM
Our players wear the Browns Bay School sports uniform.
Rugby/soccer/touch boots are fine as long as they have moulded sprigs, no metal. (No player is to play in bare feet. )
Browns Bay School sport relies hugely on parent support in the way of coaches and managers. If you are able to support your child's team please indicate on the registration form.
