Final Sports Wrap-up for Term 2

Semester 2 Sports Teams:

Semester 2 sports teams have been created and notification has been sent to all students, managers and coaches this week. Thank you to everyone who has offered to help with these teams. Please note that we have only just been notified that the ECB Miniball and Basketball will now commence the week of 28th July. This is an earlier date than the 11th August we were initially given.

Splash Polo- Term 2 Semester 1

Congratulations to both of our Splash Polo teams for a very successful Semester 1. Our Sharks team came 3rd C Grade Gold division and our Marlins team came 2nd in D Grade. Well done we are so proud of you.

Basketball/ Miniball Semester 1

Congratulations to our Y5 Lakers Basketball team who played off for 1st /2nd place on Wednesday evening in the Y5/6 A Grade at North Harbour Basketball. It was a very close game, only going down by a couple of points - A huge congratulations for winning Silver! This is a massive accomplishment, especially for a team of only Year 5s.

All the best to all our ECB teams playing their finals this Friday.

Well done to all the Miniball teams who played their last games on Tuesday. We look forward to sharing the official placements with you next term.

Super Cluster Cross Country

On Tuesday, 17th June, we took 48, Y4-6 students to compete at the Super Cluster Cross Country. The students raced against the top runners from 8 other schools - up to 64 in each race.

It was a beautiful winter's day; however, the track was very muddy after all the recent rain. All the students did so well and pushed themselves. Every team member gained points for the school on their placing - Browns Bay School came 3rd overall, along with some very good individual results.

Huge congratulations to Luke Houston and Max Dobbie for coming third in their races and making the podium. A special mention also to those who made the top 10. ( Photos Below)

Netball North Harbour Y6 Tournament

On Wednesday, 18th June, we took 3 Netball teams to compete at the Netball North Harbour Year 6 Tournament at the Onewa Netball Courts. It was once again a stunning winter's day, and all the teams played super well. Our Team 3, made up of both Y5 and Y6s lost their first game by 3 points in C grade, but then came out firing to win the next 3 games convincingly. Our Team 2 had a tough draw in B grade and went down by only a few points in their first 3 games, but managed a great win to end on. Our Team 1 in A grade won all 4 of their pool games, making it through to the semi-finals, where they met Belmont in a very physical game. Unfortunately, they lost this game, but to be in the top four teams in A grade in the tournament is no mean feat, and we are super proud of them and their achievements.

Sports Assembly

On Friday, 18th July, we will be holding our first ever Sports Assembly. This will recognise teams and coaches from our Semester 1 sports teams - Miniball, Basketball and Splash Polo. As well as congratulating recent sporting moments from the school ( Cluster Cross Country and Y6 Netball Field day). This assembly will begin at 9.45am on this day, and we hope many of you will be able to come along.

World Famous in Browns Bay- Splash Polo

Three of our Year 6 students from the BBS Sharks splash polo team (Veronica, Crystal, and Brady) participated at the recent U12 Rowan Brown Tournament, hosted by the North Harbour Water Polo Club. The tournament, featuring 45 teams, took place over three days during the Matariki weekend and involved seven games.

They all played incredibly hard and represented our school with great sportsmanship.

Veronica played for the North Harbour Dolphins, and her team won first place in the C-grade division!

Crystal played for the North Harbour Sharks, who competed in the B-grade division. Her team finished in 10th place.

Brady played for the North Harbour Narwhals, who competed in the Newbies-grade division. His team finished in 4th place.

These are wonderful accomplishments. We congratulate Veronica, Crystal, and Brady on their dedication and success in this tournament.

World Famous in Browns Bay- Go Karting

Luke Houston competed at the Auckland Schools Go Karting Competition a few weeks back, where he finished 4th in the Cadet Rok class - just missing out on the podium. This is a huge achievement for someone his age only racing for under a year.
