🎄 🎄 🎄 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 🎄 🎄 🎄
Farewell and Good Luck to all of our Year 6 students 🎓️We will see everyone else back at school on Monday 03 February. Enjoy the Christmas Break.
Merry Christmas to all our familes from everyone at Browns Bay School!
Year 6 Graduation last week was a wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone who supported our graduating students; teachers, parents and our FOTS team.
To our graduating students;
As you leave Browns Bay School, know that this is not a goodbye but a "see you later." You will always be part of our Whānau, and we look forward to hearing about your adventures and achievements in the years to come. Of course I wish you all the luck in the world, but I know that you don’t need to rely on that luck. Go forward with confidence, kindness, and courage. The future is yours to create.
Congratulations, Year 6. You have made us very proud.
On a personal note I would like to thank everyone in the community for such a warm welcome. We have lots of plans for 2025 and I look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
Reports
You should have received your child's End of Year report by email. There were some errors that were beyond our control. In some cases, what we could see on our data base was not what was emailed to you.
We raised these issues with ETAP (our provider) on Friday afternoon as soon as we were made aware. They attempted to rectify the situation, but when we did some double checking with our Whānau, we believe that there were still some errors with Year 0 and Year 3 reports.
Mrs Bibbie has now shared those reports with parents through the Parent Portal.
I apologise for the mistakes. They were not visible to us and I am in communication with ETAP to ensure that everything is accurate.
Year 6 Graduation by Jayden Jiang
"We celebrated the graduation of the Year sixes that are leaving Browns Bay School last week. The school planned a party for the Year sixes, there was a lot of hard work put in throughout to make this year super special for our leaving Year sixes. The time of the party was around 6pm to 8:50pm, parents would drop off their kids at the hall, then around 6:30pm the following graduation ceremony started. The first part of the ceremony was Room 24 getting their graduation certificates, then after a short little video showing the photos of every Year six student in Browns Bay School. Then after Room 25 got their graduation certificates, there was another video about what has happened over the years of Browns Bay School. After all the graduation certificates were given to the Year sixes, there was then the trophy giving ceremony. It was all about how there were students who did their best at BBS and how they did it and when they did it. After the trophies were given out, one speaker said, "Let's get this party started." Then after the parents cleared out to give way for the party that's about to happen. The party kicked off at 7pm through 8:50pm, in these times there were boys and girls dancing, the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, and many more. There were also water bottles which were supplied by the school, and snack bags which were also provided by the school. There were also prizes that were given out to boys and girls who danced exceptionally well. Then around 8:45pm parents started to trickle in to dance with their children in one last dance off, then around 9pm the party officially ended."

Y6 Rainbows End Trip
Rainbows End Trip by a Year 6 Student
"Recently, the whole Year 6 team went on a trip to one of the most popular theme parks in New Zealand, Rainbow’s End. I have been there once with my friend 2 years ago and I was so scared after riding the 720 Spin Roller Coaster. I knew I would never go on them ever again. Surprisingly, I actually did it. Not just once, but twice! I was super delighted that I overcame my fear. Probably, the most desired ride was the Log Flume. No matter if they were scared or not, literally everyone had a ride on it. The splash at the end of that ride was the best part, and I can still vividly picture the time when me and my friends did a no scream challenge. Overall, Rainbow’s End was very fun and was thrilling on most of the rides and my favourite was the Rollercoaster and the Invader"
2024 Jingle by Lesley Zhang
"Each year Browns Bay School has an annual Jingle celebration for family and friends to attend. In case you don’t know what Jingle is, Jingle is a kind of Christmas celebration which includes a group of Year 6 students (also known as the Jingle Crew) help, set up decorations to make the field Christmas themed. We also have the FOTS team to help with the stands and food. Then comes the students (well almost). Jingle would never be complete without our performances each year. Just before Jingle our music teacher Mrs Warren spends hour after hour to help every year group perfect their part,We’re really thankful. Now we’re up to the Kapa haka team, they showcase a bunch of skills like dance, haka and singing to start off our night. Finally we have come up to our students who perform their tiny part.
And this is what makes our annual Jingle
Jingle at Browns Bay School by Howard Zhang
"Every year, Browns Bay School holds a really fun event on the school field called “Jingle,” this is an event where all the year groups ( 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 ) all perform/share a piece of learning that they have been taught/learnt over term 4. As the field is filled with bursting parents waiting for the event to start, so with that, lets dive deeper into these special events details!
On this day the scene is filled with parents and children dressed in a colorful christmassy type theme, (based on the item they are presenting/sharing with all of us.) The scene is filled with big speakers so that the children can share their item with the backing track, this is the biggest event in the year including all the year groups. (Some advice is that if your kid/child is performing, always record them or take pictures and send them to your friends/cousins!) Now into the description!
This event starts at 6:00 (if the children are all at their seats at that time.) We are ready to start! Firstly, we start off with the amazing Kapa Haka team, then the following years will all perform their pieces and in between the pieces you will hear children singing a variety of different songs after one of the performances are done. Last but not least it's the year 6’s turn to perform!
After that, there is a little surprise, Ho Ho Ho! Wait… who is it? Is that Santa Claus?! Zoom! Santa is here! As Santa Claus approaches us, everyone cheers in joy as Santa sits on his big chair, everyone zooms to him for a selfie and then that pretty much ends Jingle! Thank you all for reading this newsletter!"
