Principal News

Lost Property

Now that swimming has started we see a massive increase in the amount of lost property at school. It is really easy for your child to pick up items belonging to someone else or even come home wearing them.

Please help out by;

  • Making sure everything your child brings to school is clearly named - including their room number

  • Checking your child has the right uniform

If your child has borrowed uniform items from us, please return to the school office as soon as possible as we now have very few spares.

Parking Around School

Parking on Masterton Road is causing lots of problems at the moment. If you are parked on yellow lines it is illegal and you are compromising safety at the school crossing.

Principal for the Day

It was lovely to spend time with Miss McGovern on Friday. Miss McGovern won the auction run through FOTS in Term 3. Thank you FOTS for everything you do for our children.

Awhi Update

Random Acts of Kindness

Term 4 is a time of excitement, anticipation and some nervousness as students and staff look ahead to 2026. We work really hard to support students during this time because we understand that change can be hard for some people.  Mantras often heard around the school are ‘We can do hard things’ and ‘I can’t do it - Yet!’ Our Awhi lessons throughout the year aim to develop resilience and the ability to persevere.

At this time of the year we add kindness into the mix. A little bit of kindness goes a long way. We encourage you to demonstrate random acts of kindness for your children and to talk to them about the power of being kind even when things go wrong. Have a wonderful week.

Travelwise - 'What`s My Speed?'

The Year 5 and Year 6 Travelwise students participated in a ‘What’s My Speed?' activity together with our local Travelwise Representative, Cathy Betty. They held placards that encouraged passers by to abide by the speed limit. Students also had the opportunity to use a speed camera to check the speed of cars approaching the crossing. They noticed that all of the cars slowed down and abided by the speed limit. The students want to say a special thank you to the Browns Bay community for helping to keep the students and families at Browns Bay School safe.
