School Pool
The Board has put a huge amount of work into doing massive due diligence on ensuring that the school pool can open again during the summer holidays and weekends throughout Term 1. There are some significant challenges and there are still some final logistics that need to be worked through. We hope that these will come together in the next week and we will be in a position by the end of next week to offer pool keys for the 2025 - 2026 Summer season.
To meet all the requirements, the cost of the pool key hire will be $200 per family. 100 keys will be available for hire. We need to sell a minimum number to make the opening viable, but we expect to sell out, so this is your chance to reserve your key.
Please complete the registration form by clicking this link. Don’t wait - this is the only way that you can secure your pool key for the summer.
Swimming at School
Our Waterwise programme starts next week. At Browns Bay School we do not offer a ‘learn to swim’ programme. The Waterwise programme is designed to develop swimming and water safety skills for all children at all levels of our school. The first four levels are taught in our school pool and are an essential part of learning to stay safe in the water. The Waterwise programme at this level is not optional. The pool is being heated now and will be ready to start next week.
If your child is not able to swim because of an injury, please let your child’s teacher know. Otherwise, we expect that all children will take part in the lessons.
An extension to the programme, covering Sailing and Kayaking, is offered for Year 5 and 6 students who have completed the swimming and water safety components. This program enables capable swimmers to use the beaches and boating clubs in our local area safely and experience aquatic pursuits that could provide lifelong recreational enjoyment. Parents in Year 5 and 6 have been notified of this already.
New 4 Square Courts
The new 4 square courts are another great addition to our school grounds, (see main photo at the top of this newsletter). Children love playing 4-square. Now we just need some warm dry weather so they can make use of them!
