ECB Y5&6 Rippa /Tackle Rugby Day
On Thursday, 15th May, we sent two girls Rippa teams, a boys Rippa team, and two boys Tackle teams to an ECB Rugby Tournament at Windsor Park. This was a great day full of learning and enjoyment. All teams were very successful on the day and represented BBS with pride. A huge thank you must go to those adults who helped run teams on the day, Brett Donald, JJ Van Vuuren and Brent Bibbie. One of the girls' teams was also lucky to have two Rangitoto College students help them out - thank you to Brooke Gillespie and Casey Boyd. Without these wonderful people, our students would not be able to participate in events like this. We look forward to Tournament 2 late in July. (Photos Below)
Barbarian Rugby Fun Day
Since 1989, the NZ Barbarians have held an annual Fun Day which dovetails nicely with the club’s aim of fostering grassroots and, in particular, schools’ Rugby. BBS have been sending a Tackle Rugby team along to this day for many years. Last Sunday, 18th May our Tackle team made up of Year 5 & 6 Boys had an awesome day filled with great and exciting Barefoot Rugby. They won 2 of their 3 games and drew one against a very tough team. The boys got commended for their behaviour and sportsmanship both on and off the field. Well done boys, you made us proud!! Thank you to all the parents and supporters for helping to make the day a huge success, especially Juanne and Francois Van Vuuren who took the team on the day.
Mystics Netball Winners
One of our parents won an Instagram competition for tickets to the Mystics vs Stars game on Mother's Day. As part of the prize for winning the Mystics tickets, there was an opportunity for some BBS girls to take part in a game at half time. It was a 2-point shootout against Westlake Girls High School.
The Browns Bay School team consisted of Lucy Corbett (Y3), Juliette Glaves (Y3), Maddy Glaves (Y5), Evelyn Glaves (Y1) and Agnes Jun (Y6), and THEY WON! Earning a whopping prize of $1000 voucher for the Sky City precinct, and stunning the crowd in a real David vs Goliath moment at the arena. Congratulations, girls, and especially to Agnes, who got the winning goal.
SnowSports
Jasper Rm 2 recently competed at the 2nd SnowPlanet Schools 365 competition on Tuesday, 13th May. Taking his experience from the 1st event Jasper was very successful, winning Gold in the Year 0-2 Snowboarding, and also winning the Dual Race. Congratulations Jasper!
