The MRCC Trust seeks passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees. If you have community spirit and the skills to support our mission, join us in uniting Ōtautahi.

The Multicultural Recreation and Community Centre Charitable Trust is a beacon of unity and cultural celebration in Christchurch. Our mission is to create and manage a safe, welcoming space that encourages the interweaving of all peoples through learning, celebration, and play. We are committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone feels valued and connected.

Our Vision and Mission

At the heart of the MRCCCT is a vision of a thriving, diverse city where cultures converge, ideas flourish, and friendships blossom. Our mission is to provide a dynamic space that respects our precious Te Tiriti o Waitangi relationship, celebrates diversity, and promotes the well-being of people from all cultural, ethnic, and faith backgrounds.

Meet Our Trust Members

Our Trust is currently formed by five dedicated community members, each bringing unique skills and perspectives to our mission:

  • Ms. Shreejana Chhetri, Chairperson: With a passion for serving the city and supporting developing communities, Shreejana has been instrumental in making the MRCC a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive space.

  • Mr. Jimmy Chen, Deputy-Chairperson: A former Christchurch City Councillor, Jimmy has led the development and implementation of the Christchurch Multicultural Strategy.

  • Mrs. Emily Verhoven: Emily's extensive experience in advisory roles within central and local governments drives her commitment to fostering diversity and building strong community relationships.

  • Mr. Danté Fyfe: As a Mortgage/Financial Adviser, Danté encourages Pacific People to start their own side hustles and diversify their income

  • Ms. Dani Faraji: Dani is a vibrant contributor to community and youth activities in Ōtautahi. Storytelling and oral histories are vital to Dani, helping her stay connected across generations and distances.

Seeking New Members

We are excited to announce that the MRCCCT is seeking new members to join our Trust! We are looking for:

  1. Treasurer: An individual with financial expertise who can help manage our resources and ensure the Trust's financial health. and

  2. Secretary. The Secretary of the Charitable Trust plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Trust by managing administrative tasks and supporting the board's activities. and/or

  3. Trustee. Someone passionate about community service, with a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity.
