Read&Write Literacy Software

Wellington Girls' College —

Exciting news!

Read&Write literacy software is now available to support all students at WGC and give them the tools they need to achieve more in reading and writing!

What is Read&Write?

Read&Write is a Chrome plugin that looks like a toolbar, proven to improve students’ reading and writing. Read&Write has been designed to support learners across a range of subject areas. With features including text-to-speech, dictionary tools, text prediction, highlighters, and voice notes, its design will support a diverse range of our WGC learners in class, at home, and during study.

Where can I use the Read&Write toolbar?

The toolbar works seamlessly across a range of educational content - such as Learning management systems, Google Classroom and Google Docs, PDFs and more - helping to ensure that every WGC student will have access to support tools including text-to-speech and dictionaries, where and when they might need them.  It will help to build student confidence, understanding, and engagement in learning. Who Will Benefit from Read&Write?

Read&Write is necessary for some WGC students but it’s also beneficial to all because every student learns in different ways. While every student can benefit from Read&Write, it’s particularly beneficial for those WGC students who have English as a second language or have additional learning needs, for example, dyslexia.  Our staff are excited to be learning about this app and are busy familiarising themselves with it. They will be able to provide support to their students and plan to integrate it into their lessons.
