Year 9 and 10 Junior Drama students came together on 7th September to perform Desperate Antics by Kevin Keys. The audience of friends and whānau enjoyed this “satiric look at modern consumer life” taking place in the State of Fad, which included funny sketch-like pieces featuring escapades like Pet Economies eating their owners and gym machines working their users to death.

The students auditioned to be cast members at the start of Term 3 and rehearsed twice a week in preparation for their performance. They were led by senior student directors Laura Foster and Lauren Taylor, along with producers Thea Matthews and Elsie Beaglehole. Laura has wanted to direct Junior Drama since she first found out about it in 2019 and says “this year I got to fulfil those dreams. The cast and crew of Desperate Antics were a dream to work with and I am so proud of the show we put on.”
