EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

Wellington Girls' College - June 30, 2025

SMT - Ave Wilson all trips

TIC of EOTC - Rebecca McLean

Trips within New Zealand:

Wellington Girls’ College supports EOTC. There are, however, procedures that must be followed. For any planned camps, trips or visitors complete the GonoGo application.

Teachers must gain permission for any EOTC activities and all paperwork must be completed and approved well in advance of the trip and before any communication goes out to students and whānau.

Activities that have been on the calendar from the start of the year do not require students to fill out a Teacher Consent for Approved Absence form - all other activities missing another class do. If students will be missing classes taught by other teachers they must get that teacher’s permission by getting their signature on Teacher Consent for Approved Absence. This means that if all the teachers have not signed this form, the student may not go on the trip. It is the responsibility of the teacher organising the trip to ensure that all forms are signed by all the teachers. In the case of a missed assessment the teacher has a right to refuse permission for the trip. Remember – assessment always takes priority over activities outside the classroom.

Please see Ave Wilson if you would like support with this process.

NOTE: It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company about your insurance cover when using your private vehicle on a work related trip

International Trips:

Any staff member wanting to discuss taking a student group for an international trip must make a time to discuss the process with Ave Wilson.
