Te Haeata Awatea - Kapa Haka

Wellington Girls' College —

Te Haeata Awatea is our combined kapa haka with Wellington College. The rōpū was established in 1997 and has long been a vehicle allowing ākonga Māori to stand in their own authentic selves here at Wellington College. 2024 is a non-competition year, however, there are plenty of events to prepare and perform for, including the Whakanui Ahurea Kāhui Ako Cultural Festival in Term 3 and other prestigious end-of-year events. Whether it's your first time in this space or you want to build your capacity as a leader and a kaihaka, this is the year you want to return or join. Open to all ākonga at Wellington Girls’ College. The first practice will start on the first Monday of Term 2 (29th of April). A hui will be held later on in the term for whānau to connect. Upcoming events and fees will be discussed at this hui. Being a non-competition year means costs will be significantly less.

Practices have previously been every Monday during term time at Wellington Girls College in the Sports Gym from 4.30pm-6pm, however, we are looking to change it to 5.30-7 as it clashes with sport.
