WGC Cultural Awards 2024: Self-Nomination Form Now Open

Students may Self-Nominate for the Cultural Person of the Year award and the Cultural Contribution to the School award using this form. 

The Cultural Person of the Year award recognises achievement at the highest level.

The Cultural Contribution to the School award recognises students who have participated in a variety of cultural activities, demonstrated dedication, and positively impacted the cultural life of the school. This recognition emphasises the significance of involvement and service, valuing these contributions alongside a high level of achievement.

Examples of Cultural activities could include participation in: Kapa Haka, Dance, Drama, Tu Tagata, Music, Art, Speech (including Ngā Manu Kōrero), Debate, Language Study, Writing, Photography, etc. If you are unsure whether or not to include something then please feel free to email Carrie (carrie.bouffard@wgc.school.nz) and ask.

The form will ask you to list your arts and cultural achievements and experiences, both at WGC and outside of school. You will be able to choose if you would like to be considered for both awards or only one. You will have the opportunity to submit a personal statement and will be asked to send in three photos that may be used in the slideshow at the award ceremony.

Any student at WGC may apply, but please note that senior students may have an advantage due to being involved in activities for a longer period of time.

The Cultural Awards will take place on Friday, 18 October, here at school. More information about invitations will be forthcoming, and the event will be live-streamed.

He Manu Huia Tūrae Award

This is the form where you can nominate a friend, peer or teacher to be awarded the He Manu Huia Tūrae award. The award will be presented in assembly to a couple of the nominees. Nominees will also receive a house point!

Please only nominate one student at a time :)

With so many talented people in our community it can be hard to keep track of everyone’s accomplishments, especially outside of school. We know you are involved in heaps of amazing artistic and cultural activities and we would love to hear about them! Please get in touch and share your accomplishments so we can be sure to acknowledge your success.
