Our 13b Drama class are performing a showcase of 3 plays Thursday 23rd May, 4.15pm and 7pm. Performances will be in the Wellington College Theatre. The event is non-ticketed and seats are 1st in, 1st served. We would love to see you there!

TO THE FRONT PŌNEKE 2024

Running from Monday the 8th of July to Saturday the 13th

To The Front is open to youth aged 12-17 years who are women, intersex, trans, takatāpui and gender diverse. They’ll learn instruments, form bands, write original songs, and perform at a showcase, all guided by professional musicians. No previous musical experience is required.

Alongside collaborative learning, participants will take part in workshops about DIY merchandise, songwriting and performance skills. Each day they’ll enjoy lunchtime performances from local artists. The week will be held at Massey Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts Wellington.

NZCF-SOUNZ Choral Composition Competition

The competition is run in conjunction with SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music and awards a prize for the best choral piece composed by a New Zealand secondary school student.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of $250 supported by SOUNZ.
SOUNZ and NZCF will also work together to facilitate either a live performance or a video recording of the winning composition for The Big Sing Finale 2024 in Wellington.

SOUNZ-NZCF Te Reo Māori Choral Composition Award

This award, initiated by SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music, was introduced in 2021 and aims to encourage young composers to write choral settings of texts in Te Reo Maori. The winning composer will receive a trophy - a taonga, kindly donated by SOUNZ, in the form of a beautiful pūtōrino Te Pūoho Ki Te Rangi carved by taonga puoro player/composer and maker Tāmihana Kātene.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of $250 supported by SOUNZ.
SOUNZ and NZCF will also work together to facilitate either a live performance or a video recording of the winning composition for The Big Sing Finale 2024 in Wellington.
