Impact Dance Competition

Wellington Girls' College —

On Saturday, 24 July, the Impact Dance Competition took place at the Lower Hutt Events Centre. Nova, WGC’s hip hop crew, performed in the Senior Hip Hop division. The competition was fierce as this was a large division of ten other crews, many of which contained other WGC students. Nova is made up of Nethara Lamahewa, Blessing Ndambuki, Jessie Strong, Jenny Seevens, Roseanne Nguyen and Violet MacNeill and they are coached by Pump Dance tutors Amelia Romijn (also ex-WGC) and MJ Neethling as part of our exciting Creatives in Schools project this year. It was their first time performing together and they received an Excellence award for their performance and have qualified to perform at Impact Dance Nationals on the 19th August.

This is a fabulous result, particularly for their first performance, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve as they continue to work together.
