ICT
Wellington Girls' College - June 30, 2025
SMT - Mel Eade
The College has state-of-the-art-computer equipment. We have a hybrid system using the best of Microsoft, Google and some other cloud based providers combined with our own onsite private cloud systems. We host all our own webservers onsite, including an archive for our school history (content maintained by Library staff), the school website is designed and content is updated by IT Support.
We are fully wireless and have extended fibre optic cabling to classrooms. Students are encouraged to bring their own devices to school. IT Support in BG2 do have chromebooks for long term loan for students who do not own a device, the student and caregivers will need to sign an agreement to loan a device.
Some departments require specialist software and fast hardware, this is provided by IT to the departments and is maintained by IT.
Teaching staff members are issued with a laptop. which can be taken home, or to conferences etc. Access to the school network (e.g. Kamar, Assay and T-Drive) is available through the school’s VPN on the laptop. Laptops are available for support staff to loan if it is required that they work from home. If a staff member intends to go overseas they must contact IT Support before taking their laptop overseas, this is a requirement for all TELA laptops.
All staff and students are asked to sign a cyber safety agreement, the staff on appointment and the students on enrolment.
The school uses Google Apps, Gmail as its email, Hapara Teacher Dashboard, Google Classroom as its Learning Management Systems (LMS).
