Prizegiving - Friday 1 November
This is a school day - school uniform will be worn by Year 9 and 10 students. Year 11 and 12 may wear mufti for the rehearsal but must be in correct uniform in the evening. Students will not cross the stage in the evening if they are not in correct uniform.
Awards presented at Prizegiving:
Year 13: any student with a First in subject or Distinction award or Te Tohu Raukura award;
Year 11 & 12: any student with First or Te Tohu Raukura award; any student with three or more other awards e.g. three Distinction awards
Year 9 & 10: any student with First or Te Tohu Raukura award; Distinction and/or Academic Effort in four or more subject e.g. four Distinction awards
Note: A student studying at a level other than their year level receives the award at the level studied.
Rehearsal
Students make their own way to the Michael Fowler Centre for rehearsal in the morning.
- 9:00 am Choir, orchestra and Year 9 prizewinners meet at MFC
- 9:15 am Year 10 prizewinners meet at MFC
- 9:30 am Year 11 prizewinners meet at MFC
- 9:45 am Year 12 prizewinners meet at MFC
- 10:00 am Year 13 prizewinners meet at MFC
10:30 am
Year 9 and Year 10 non-prizewinners will make their own way from home to the MFC. They will report to their Wānanga teacher who will check uniforms, take attendance and show students where to sit. This is a school day and attendance is required.
Senior students who are not prizewinners and are not in the choir or orchestra or other performing groups, will not be required to attend Prizegiving REHEARSAL and will be able to use the time to revise for the upcoming NCEA exams. They are required to attend the actual Prizegiving in the evening.

Prizegiving practice begins
Students dismissed at approximately 12:30 pm to go home, to return at 6:30pm for the Prizegiving
1:00 pm
Kapa Haka and Poly Club remain for a brief rehearsal
Orchestra and choir remain for practice until 3.30pm at the latest
Arrival times for Prizegiving Ceremony
- 6:00 pm Choir, Orchestra, Poly Club and Kapa Haka arrive
- 6:30 pm Students and parents arrive and prizewinners organised
Audience briefed on protocol - Prizegiving ceremony commences at 7:00pm and ends approximately 9:00pm
