COMMUNICATION TO STUDENTS + WHĀNAU

Wellington Girls' College - June 30, 2025

Staff can communicate information to students and Whānau in a variety of ways:

Te Pūriki (weekly newsletter for students)

The aim is to view Te Pūriki during wānanga time on Mondays (if possible). It is a chance to discuss with students the areas of school they are interested in, notices and when everything is happening. It is a great self management tool for students. It will be shared to students and staff on Friday afternoon.

Students are encouraged NOT to use DL student emails but send messages to the tepūriki@wgc.school.nz email for notices/surveys/adverts etc.

The Student Communication Committee has oversight of Te Pūriki with Elmarie Els.

Email (please use Te Pūriki where at all possible)

DL Groups are set up for easy emailing of student groups such as:

year levels (e.g. dl.students.year.09.2022@wgc.school.nz)

committees (e.g. dl.student.communication.committee.2022@wgc.school.nz).

Each class has its own email address too (e.g. 1-2-12ms-mcp-2022@wgc.school.nz). You can email through the Class Info tab on Teacher Dashboard or by regular email.

Assay is an online version of Kamar which you can log into when on the school network, or by remote access (VPN). You use Assay to email individual students, classes or Kamar Groups. For individuals you can also email their parents and/or teachers. For classes and groups you can remove individual students, and add parents. Assay can be accessed under Staff Quick Links on the 4Staff page of the school website, use your Kamar username and password to access.
