Visiting Writers Workshop
The English department had three visiting writers recently to run writing workshops. Rose Lu talked about how a personal essay should be like a really awesome conversation with a friend and shared her writing about growing up as a Chinese New Zealander. Ruby Solly showed students how to write and shape a poem and told the students that every word should feel like a choice. Emily Writes said that she wants to make trouble with her writing and told the students that it's important to get your voice heard about issues that are important to you. She encouraged them to do 'good trouble writing.'
