Canteen update

Wellington Girls' College —

You may already have heard that our Canteen contractors have decided not to come back to WGC this year. Unfortunately we only heard this late in the year after the students had left. The canteen is in part of the school we expect will be demolished to make way for a new building, so we are not in a position to offer a very attractive deal to anyone new.

We have made the decision not to have a canteen in the meantime, but by 19 February we will have three large vending machines on site, which will operate using cash or EFTPOS. They will be stocked with healthy food, approved by the DHB’s nutritionists. We have had some samples tested by a range of students and declared to be really nice and much better than they expected!

We are not making any profit on these machines and because of that, the students will not be charged to use EFTPOS.

Please be aware that our usual rules about leaving school remain in place - Year 12 (with a leave pass) and 13 students can leave at lunchtime, but Years 9-11 must remain on site.  That means getting lunch organised from home; or buying it on the way to school; or using the vending machines.

We have had a suggestion about getting food trucks in occasionally and we would be quite keen to do this. If you have any contacts who might be interested in this, please email the Principal, Julia Davidson.
