As a previous prize winner of Rockquest, Greer Castle Yr 13 (alongside Troy Kingi and Yr 9 student Ayva Lafeta) was invited to perform at Parliament yesterday as part of the 2025 Smokefree Rockquest/Showquest opening. 

In April, Greer & Clara Kennedy yr13 also took part in the Tauranga Jazz Festival with the WC/WGC Big Band and Combo - 1867. 

Both groups were awarded Gold for their performance sets and many of the band members won category awards for their chosen instruments. Greer gained an honourable mention for her outstanding vocals. Big Band was awarded Best Big Band Rhythm Section and Best Performance of a NZ Composition. On top of this, Big Band was also awarded the coveted New Orleans Trophy for Best Big Band. This is the first time since 2009 that this award has gone to a Wellington School.
