13DT/MD International Women's Day @ British High Commission

On the 8th of March it was International Women’s Day and ten Year 13s from the Digital Tech and Media Studies classes went to the British High Commission for DigitALL, a panel focused on promoting women and gender equality in technology.

The panel was hosted by British High Commissioner Iona Thomas and the panellists were Anna Whyte, Siobhan Bulfin, Emily Lambie, Amanda Dudding, and Jessica Manins. Jessica, a WGC old girl, is the Co-CEO and Co-founder of Beyond, a VR game studio in Wellington. The panel discussed issues such as the safety of being a woman online and the need for more women in software development. It was inspiring to learn from women in the digital workforce as well as see a bunch of other like minded girls from schools across the Wellington region. We are looking forward to having Jessica come talk to our junior students some time in the future!
