Rowing Success

WGC Rowing —

It has been a fantastic few weeks for Wellington Girls' College Rowing Club, with the delivery of our first all-teal racing boat just in time for the McLachlan Shield (with big thanks to Catherine and Seth our dream team coaches who made an epic round trip to Taumaranui to make sure it was there on time).

The squad proudly raced the new boat to victory in its first outing. Since then, it has been all go with preparations for the North Island Secondary School Championships where the squad made six A finals and two B finals, bringing home a silver in the under 17 eight (our new boat again). There has been huge improvements across the season, reflecting the hard work, training and commitment all our rowers have put in.

The squad is very grateful to One Foundation, Air Rescue Services and Pelorus Trust for their generous contributions to our new boat. During the season, we have also been fortunate to receive financial support from Terawhiti Charitable Trust, Amanda and Ben from Ray White Real Estate and Precision Decorating Ltd, which has enabled the Club to purchase three new gazebos as well as a new BBQ.

Our Maadi crew is now getting ready for their last big outing of the season at the Maadi Regatta before a much-needed break over the Winter.

Registrations for the 25/26 season are open to all student in years 9-12. For those that are interested, please sign up via the WGC sports registration form.
