In Ngahere this term we have enjoyed great provocation, Mathematical thinking and language as we join together in our collaborative classes to engage in lots of Maths games such as playing cards and dice games.

Our new ‘rapid routines’ and warm up activities allow tamariki to develop their mathematical thinking and language when they have to justify why they believe their answers to Mathematical questions are the correct answer. No answer is wrong and we are having great discussion around the why and how tamariki have come to their own conclusions.

Dice and card games encourage taking turns, counting and finding patterns within numbers. As winter sets in we are looking forward to enjoying more board games at wet lunch times fostering team building, mathematical thinking and problem solving.
