Addington Te Kura Taumatua Central Athletics Team

Kerry Johnson —

Yesterday 5 students went and represented our school and zone at Central Athletics, held at Nga Punawai.

It was a cold day. Brooklyn was surprised at some of the huge children twice as tall as him competing in high jump! However Brooklyn came third in Canterbury for high jump.

Shakaia said there were a huge amount of people there. She was proud of how she went in shot put and is hoping to qualify to go next year.

Stella liked doing shot put. She came second, her mum was really happy!

Jayden competed in discus, there were about 20 other competitors. In his last throw the discus went about 15 meters. Lots of his family came to watch.

Rupeni also competed in discus. He didn’t place in that event. When he went to his 80 meter sprint he got through to the finals and then WON! Wow, what an Awesome Achievement.

To all our competitors, we are so proud of you! To the families that took their children and supported and encouraged them - thank you!
