Girls Skateboarding -We have extra teachers on duty each day who take activities in our playground. Last term one of our senior girls showed an interest in learning to skateboard and approached us to see if she how she could learn these skills. Whaea Jo soon connected her with an ESP to get her started and with some other interested girls. Whaea Alanna noticed and let us know that she was keen on skateboarding and she was happy to take a group of senior girls as part of her activity duty and as not all the girls had boards we managed to source 3 boards and helmets. We know there are boys interested too and they can bring their boards on wheelie day duty.
Dirt Play - We have seen that our senior playground has been taken down and that our students have been having fun playing in the dirt. Thanks Matua Adam for getting some spades and shovels for us to dig and dig and dig... We have even found some clay.
Playpod - This week also saw the introduction of our playpod into the playground. Great mahi Whaea Grace and Whaea Kerry in listening to what our tamariki thought they would like to try and getting it up and running.
Ngahere Basketball - There is a moveable setup outside Ngahere that our younger students are having a great time practising their shooting skills with.
PAL's - This term will also see our PAL's (Physical Activity Leaders) out at break times running games and activities. Our PAL pairs have a day each week that they are responsible for.
Activity Spot - Each Morning break sees one our fabulous team of teacher aides being responsible for an activity spot. This is a spot where one type of equipment is out for use. It could be skipping ropes, hoops, basketballs.
