Here are some Fun Facts in appreciation of my Friday.
Happy Friday everyone
Today I have had my bucket filled spending lots of time with our amazing students. Sometimes in this role you can get bogged down with sorting property, finances and the piles of paper but not today!
This morning I had the pleasure of taking A-Tunes for their rehearsal today, we didn't have much time but I loved hearing how successful they have been learning two of their repertoire for the Kahukura Music Festival next term. Singing always makes me feel good.
Friday Fun Fact No1 - Singing can enhance your immune system...belting out a tune may not only make you feel good but also strengthen your immune system. Research has shown that singing increases the levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) in your body, which acts as a natural defence mechanism against infections. So, don’t be afraid to sing your heart out!
After A-Tunes I went outside into the freezing cold and put on the GD (Goal Defence) bib to play in the staff versus students netball game. This was a fun event kicking off the first day of the winter sport season. I guess the staff had a height advantage taking out the two halves, but it was a lot of fun and so good to have everyone being cheered on and getting into the spirit on the side lines
Friday Fun Fact No2 - Playing sport you learn respect for yourself and others...One of the most important things you can learn from team sports is respect – for yourself and others. When you’re part of a team, you have to be able to work together with people who are different from you. You also have to be able to deal with the occasional disagreement.
And then this afternoon I spent the afternoon doing art with Tawai. We bravely did painting, collecting autumn leaves and then making prints using warm colours.
Friday Fun Fact No3 - Art encourages neural connections ... Art is an activity that can employ all the senses––sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste––depending on the activity. Children’s brain synapses fire away as they experiment and create by squishing paint between their fingers, mixing colours & materials, or drawing from imagination or what they see in front of them.
And before I knew it it was 2.15pm and I hadn't had lunch..... but I had definitely had FABULOUS FUN!
And well now it's almost time to go home....
Have a fantastic weekend everyone, find things that fill your bucket - heart and mind. I am going home with mine much fuller today so thank you, thank you everyone.
