EPro8 In School Competition
Friday 9th July 2021
Eight teams of four children each competed in the Addington Te Kura Taumatua EPro 8 Tournament in the school hall on the last day of term two. The competition started at 11.40 am and went through to 1.40pm.
The teams were given a booklet containing three different challenges and the teams chose which challenges they wished to undertake. Harder challenges were worth more points. There was not enough time to finish all the challenges so strategy is required to know which ones to go for and how long to stay on each challenge for.
All eight teams chose to start with the Flying Fox Challenge. Most teams stayed on this challenge that whole time seeing how far through they could get and just how many points they could rack up. One team chose to try the Rowing Machine challenge and another team tried the Pac Man challenge.
It was amazing to see all the teams work through the challenges and frustrations that many teams faced. You could see that all the learning they had done all week was now being used. Whether that was how to make their structures stronger or how to listen to eachother and work together as a team or any of the many other skills they had learnt for the week.
We were so proud of every team. You can see by the results below that the compettition was very close.
Results:
The Robot Badgers - 160 points
The Odd Ones Out - 140 points
Twinkle Twinkle - 130 points
The Engineering Symbiotes - 130 points
The Dark Potatoes -120 points
Addington Accelerators - 100 points
The Engineering Panthers - 100 points
The A Team - 90 points
This means that The Robot Badgers and The Odd Ones Out will be heading off to the qualifying rounds at Cobham Intermediate the first week of term three.
All the best.
