From Donna's Desk...
Highlights from this week and Heads Ups for the weeks ahead....well yes um its been a funny old week! Hopefully next week we will be participating in the Zones Winter Tournament, singing in the choir and dancing at the disco!
There is a weird feel about the place this afternoon as we await the Prime Minister's announcements re Covid19 Alert Level changes tonight. The Leadership Team and i met this week and want to assure you we have plans and procedures in place and ready to implement should we move back into Level 3 or 4. The first being a quick survey to all families to find out out how many of you are essential workers, therefore needing to send your children to school. This survey will help us gauge how many bubbles and staff on site we will need. I can also say should levels change we will be taking a phased in approach to our learning from home programmes as we did back in March. I thank you again for your cooperation and understanding as we again need to be responsive to government directions and time lines.
Unfortunately if we stay at Level 2 the 100 + people gathering restrictions will mean the postponing/cancelation of the School Disco planned for next Friday 21st August and the Zones Winter Sports Tournament due to be held on Tuesday 18th August. Staying at Level 2 or above beyond next week will also have an impact on Trudy's farewell, learning conversations and our concert with Sacred Heart and potentially Y4-6 Camp.
In other upsetting news we have a number of students here at school who think it's ok to spit and not just on the ground but at other students and adults. I am sure you will agree this disgusting and unhealthy act is not nor never will be acceptable here at our school. To try and stamp this out, any student caught spitting will have to own their behaviour and call home to tell Mum or Dad what they have done. I ask for your cooperation and support to help us put a stop to this awful problem.
On Wednesday the staff had the privilege of farewelling Lori our cleaner as she begins her retirement. The staff put on a lovely morning tea and contributed items for a pamper/treat box filled with lovely smellies and treats to eat. Lori has been a cleaner here for 16 years. We wish her all the best as she enjoys the time to relax after all these years.
I have enjoyed having my sister here this week. We look pretty similar so we've had a few double takes when students have visited in the office and she's been here too. She flies back to Napier on Sunday (all going to plan that is). I hope get to do what you have planned this weekend. Stay safe, be kind and remember...
Ngā mihi
