Year 10 Human Biology: The Amazing Mind
Our Year 10 Human Biology Option Class helps students understand how their nervous system and brain functions, and what happens when it is injured or diseased. To assist their understanding, students start off learning about the anatomy of the brain.
One of the activities to help them remember the cerebral lobes is to make ‘Brain Hats’, shown in the image below. Students then go on to learn about how the messages are communicated in the brain and around the body.
The anatomy and function of neurons is investigated, and students create Neuron Models to help embed this knowledge. They use plasticine to create their model on their desk and then label each part with a pen – the first time they can ‘legally’ draw on their desks!
