Showquest 2024
Last week some Year 7 & 8 students participated in a New Zealand wide performance competition called Showquest, where the students create a production from scratch which can involve acting, singing, and live music. After two terms of planning and rehearsing, with the help of their amazing backstage crew, musicians, dancers, our outstanding rōpū (group) produced an 8-minute performance called ‘Embrace the Change’ to wow the judges at the Kiri te Kanawa theatre.
There was a lot to experience on the day, from watching other schools' rehearsals, to taking a twirl at the silent disco and the amazing experience of performing on the stage in front of a sold out audience. AJHS was the first to perform on the night, and the group did an amazing job. It was a truly unforgettable day.
AJHS was awarded Best Original Composition, Best Live Music, and Highly Commended Theme. Also a big congratulations to our student leaders, who spoke about our performance on stage - they were awarded Best Public Speaking on the night.
A big thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and all students that took part in Showquest - the group could not have done this without you.
