Leading Leadership Learning @ ASHS

At the end of last month, ASHS Head Student, (and AJHS alumni), Kendall Bindon worked alongside Head Students Hayun Seo from Rangitoto College (and AJHS alumni) and Kate McIntosh from Long Bay College to make a vision come to reality.

The three young leaders wanted to put together an event that would inspire and encourage Year 12 students to accept the challenge of leadership in their last year of high school. Wanting to involve as many emerging leaders as possible on the North Shore, the inaugural Year 12 Young Leaders Day was launched.

The event was held at ASHS and involved thirty Year 12 students and ten Year 13 Head Students from schools across the North Shore.

The two guest speakers were from the Royal New Zealand Air Force; ASHS foundation student Corporal Nicole Smith and Flight Lieutenant Russel Bone. Throughout the day these leaders of tomorrow were involved in proposal writing, networking activities and group presentations that focussed on building confidence and tackling school issues.

Through Kendall's impact project, she has been able to work with a range of people and create an event to inspire the next group of leaders in North Shore schools and beyond.
