Tēnā koe, Talofa Lava, Mālō e lelei, Sanibonani,

Integrity | Kia Pono  .  Respect | Kia Manaaki  .  Courage | Kia Māia

I hope this message finds you well and that you've had a positive week.

Last week we suffered a very unexpected loss of a student who attended our school last year, and whose mother was one of our teachers. Pahul Bedi was 12 years old, and he was the most energetic, enthusiastic and vibrant student who fully embraced school and life. Because Pahul no longer attended our school, we were guided by the wishes of his family to keep this devastating event within the school. We are now positioned to share this with our community. We are all grieving his loss and have the family in our thoughts.

The Ministry of Education provides our bus service for transportation to and from our school, but the responsibility for students' safety and behaviour during their commute lies outside the school's jurisdiction once they depart from the school premises. Whilst we facilitate the arrangement of the bus service, and we always honour our duty of care, we are not liable for any incidents or issues that may occur while students are travelling on the bus. However, if you have any concerns which need to be addressed please contact our Bus Co-ordinator: shelley.brockelsby@ajhs.schoolnz

As we approach the end of the term, we kindly ask for your continued assistance in reinforcing expectations at home in support of our school behavioural culture. Please communicate the importance of courtesy and positive behaviour to your child. Discuss the impact of their actions on themselves and others, both within the school community and outside the school, especially conduct on buses. Together, we can create a school community where every student feels valued, respected, and supported in their journey towards success. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to our shared values: Integrity, Respect and Courage.

Tomorrow we have our annual summer Gala event from 10am-1pm. We have 54 stalls offering food, games, raffles and many prize opportunities. We would be delighted if you and your friends and family could come along to enjoy the festivities to celebrate our school community.

Enjoy your weekend e te whānau and take care.

Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa.
