Year 7 Camp

Nestled at the far end of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula in the Shakespear Regional Park lies Te Haruhi Bay, our Year 7 campground. Camp was amazing, and with activities like kayaking, snorkelling, orienteering, archery, and team building, campers had an action-packed couple of days.

We would like to thank everyone who came on Sunday afternoon to help pitch well over 70 tents, 2 large marquees and a huge number of gazebos.

Snorkelers discovered marine life, while the orienteering challenge tested our navigation skills. Archery added a competitive edge, and the team-building activities promoted bonding amongst campers. Whether in the water snorkelling, or on the water in a kayak or sailboat, the cooling effect of the water was much appreciated by all. The long walk on the first night pushed many campers to their limits - but most found their second wind when their torches came out, and the dark became an exciting element to the walk.

In the natural setting, camp provided a break from the routine of life, and a chance to create lasting memories. Shakespear Regional Park's beauty served as the perfect backdrop for our outdoor adventure and making friends.

Thanks so much to all our helpers - both staff and parent volunteers, for supporting us and providing this opportunity to our learners. Thanks also to all the Year 7 parents who helped their children to find, name and pack everything needed to participate fully in the activities offered! We hope your children had some great stories to share when they returned home.
