Message from the Board

We would like to thank the school community for all your wonderful support for both your students and the school over the past year. Having attended this week's prize giving ceremonies, the Board is so excited with the outcomes the school is achieving for our students. We’d also like to thank the senior leadership team, teachers and support staff for their incredible commitment and hard work towards achieving excellent outcomes for our tamariki.

In our governance role we support the school through working with the senior leadership team, creating positive outcomes for our students. We do this through receiving reports from staff about the implementation of programmes and the effectiveness of them in making a difference for students. We also work with the school to develop a budget that will effectively resource the running of the school, including initiatives to raise student wellbeing and academic outcomes.

As the school's governance body, we maintain and enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of the Board through having elections every 18 months (the term for a board member is 3 years). We encourage anyone who is interested in being a part of the AJHS board, to look for the advertised elections and put their names forward. It’s a wonderful way to contribute to the success of the school as a whole, and towards creating a stimulating and nurturing environment for our amazing students.

We also want to thank the newly formed PTA members for their commitment to the school, and the wonderful work they are doing to strengthen the outcomes and opportunities for AJHS. If you would like to be on the PTA you are always welcome - please contact julia.scott@ajhs.school.nz
