Year 7 Overnight Experience - Shakespear Regional Park

As part of the beginning of year programme for our Year 7 students, they recently embarked on an exciting adventure to our annual overnight experience.

From the moment they arrived, the students were full of energy and enthusiasm, ready for fun challenges and new experiences.

The campsite was located in the beautiful bushland setting of Shakespear Regional Park, providing the perfect backdrop for camping and the various outdoor activities that the students would participate in throughout the week. Upon arriving at the campsite, students found their tents and settled in, and then it was straight into activities.

Over the 3 days the students took part in a range of activities designed to test their physical and mental capabilities, as well as encourage them to build relationships and work together as a class. These included sailing, kayaking, snorkelling, archery/air rifles, orienteering, and team-building challenges, all of which required teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Students approached each activity with determination and a positive attitude, cheering each other on and celebrating their successes together. It was wonderful to see them developing skills such as resilience and perseverance.

In addition to the activities during the day, the students really enjoyed our evening programmes. On the first evening there was a night hike, where we got to experience the sunset as well as do some star-gazing. On the second night students had a chance to test their skills against the other classes by taking part in a variety of relays.

As their time at camp drew to a close, students returned to school with a newfound confidence and a sense of accomplishment, having conquered challenges and faced fears they never thought possible. Overall, the Year 7 overnight experience was an unforgettable experience for all involved, and one that will stay with the students for years to come.
