Visual Art Success

Congratulations to Violet Lee and Lyn Seok for receiving the award of Highly Commended in the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand/Adam Foundation Shakespeare Static Image Competition, and to Zurika Bronkhorst for her award of Commended.

The judges were thrilled to see such detail and evidence of thought behind their artworks, including their Shakespeare quote, visual image and presentation. The judges encouraged them to keep up their work in Visual Art, as many Alumni from this SGCNZ Competition now work professionally in the creative arts space as designers, both nationally and internationally.

Violet Lee - Highly Commended

“The judges loved the sentiment behind this piece. It is beautifully put together and the use of the eye framing in the image is particularly clever. The character connections are evident, and the use of the royal purple is very effective!”

Lyn Seok - Highly Commended

“The judges thought that your image had beautiful composition and enjoyed the dreamy romantic colours. They also loved the addition of the pouring of the poison. The image itself is very reminiscent of the 90’s Leonardo Di Caprio version of Romeo and Juliet (which is never a bad thing). Well done!”

Zurika Bronkhorst - Commended

“The judges thought that your image was very dark but well put together. It evoked a feeling of tragedy with no escape in sight, which is fitting considering your images subject matter. Dark, damned and deadly! Well done!”
