Tēnā koe, Talofa Lava, Mālō e lelei, Sanibonani, parents, caregivers, whānau and students

Thank you to all the parents who attended our online Whānau forum (Parent Chat) on Tuesday evening. This is a rich opportunity we offer to our school community every term. We offer our forums online to provide more accessible conditions for parents, and to discuss current and topical themes in our school that impact our students’ education. Furthermore, we always offer time during the forum for whānau to ask questions, which makes for a great conversation.

Last week our school underwent an education review for two days. The Education Review Office advisory were especially impressed with the strength of leadership across our school with both students and staff, and our school improvement over the last 2 years following the pandemic. The success of this overall review of our school is a testament to the dedication and hard mahi (work) of our whole school community. The growing collaboration and partnership with parents and guardians is contributing to a culture that fosters continuous improvement and mutual care. We are so proud of AJHS. Thank you to everyone.

As we move into the last few weeks of school we continue to deliver our teaching and learning programmes, and hold many different celebrations for our students. Please encourage your child to maintain their engagement with school life to finish their school year delivering on our expectations of them. This includes students being punctual to school and to their classes, and ensuring they are equipped and focused on their learning. We expect all ākonga (students) to interact with their teachers and peers respectfully. Ending the school year with integrity is about maintaining honesty, ethical conduct, and mana, enhancing commitment to one's responsibilities as a member of the AJHS whānau.

We look forward to seeing whānau at the student leaders inauguration this Monday evening. Please remember it is a Ministry of Education Accord Teacher only Day next Friday 24 November for our school. Have a fantastic weekend.

Take care,

Cushla Shepherd
