8K12 at the NIWA North Harbour Science & Technology Fair by AJHS

AJHS success at the NIWA North Harbour Science & Technology Fair

Seven students from class 8K12 recently attended the NIWA North Harbour Science & Technology Fair held at Massey University, Albany campus. (One additional finalist was unable to attend due to her involvement in the AIMS tournament.) They were accompanied by science teachers, Helen Haine and Iain McMahon.

The five student exhibits chosen to attend were selected during the AJHS in-school science fair exhibition. The selected students then spent time above and beyond their school studies to extend, enhance, and fine-tune their scientific investigations and exhibits. Many thanks to our Head of Science, Martene Matthews, for her assistance in the students’ final preparations leading up to the Fair.

The selected exhibits were by Isabel Lawes; Alexander Robertson; Sharanya Vickneshwaran and Ryan Maelzer; Kavin Kumar and Soha Kazi; and Sophie Li and Eva Li.

Four out of five AJHS exhibits were chosen as prize winners at the Fair; final results will be announced after the prize-giving on Tuesday 27th September hosted by Northcross Intermediate School.

The Science team at AJHS would like to thank the friends and whanau who offered their guidance and support to 8K12 students during this busy time. We made it!
