As we reach the midway point of our term, we take time to reflect on the last six weeks. We want to reinforce our gratitude for your support and resilience around our school closures for weather events, industrial action and our parent conferences.

Thank you to all our whānau who attended school community events over the last fortnight. We held our inaugural PTA (parent and teacher association) meeting, the second round of parent conferences, and our Māori and Pasifika hui. Having face to face time to learn about each other, the places we are from, and where we are going as a school and community has been so embracing. Building strong and authentic relationships enables us to understand what beliefs and values our ākonga (students) and whānau have towards teaching and learning, and their aspirations for life.

Over the next two weeks we are delighted to welcome Year 6 students from our local feeder primary schools (Whānau ke ti - Kahui Ako) for their AJHS experience days. Our Year 6 experience days provide visibility for our incoming students' learning pathway, enabling more collaboration and engagement for their transitions from one school to another.

Congratulations to Albany Senior High School for their production of Chicago. We had a large contingent of students walk down to watch their musical production last week, where they thoroughly enjoyed watching the senior students perform (with alumni from AJHS involved).

All the best to our students who started their journey to Wellington yesterday for our annual Drama trip. We look forward to hearing about their learning experiences on Tuesday when we return from our long weekend. A tremendous thank you to our teachers Mrs Brockelsby and Mr Allan, accompanying our students.
