Badminton Zone Day Success
We have had 2 fantastic days with our students attending the North Harbour Intermediate Badminton Zone Day this week.
On Tuesday we had a team of Lawrence Lu, Kingston Liao, Charles Li and Valen Chen attend the zone day and play some fantastic badminton. In the singles event both Lawrence and Kingston won all of their pool games, making it through to the main draw. Kingston lost in the quarter finals and Lawrence made it through to the semi finals before going down.
Then in the doubles, both pairs of Kingston and Lawrence and Charles and Valen won all of their pool games making it into the main draw. Valen and Charles lost in the quarter final and Lawrence and Kingston went down in the semi final. The quality of the badminton competition was very good and our boys performed extremely well.
Then on Wednesday our girls team of Amy Wang, Lucy Zhou, Trisha Kansara and Fiona Lai attended the girls event. Amy had an amazing day going through the tournament unbeaten and becoming the North Harbour Intermediate Girls Zone Day Singles Champion.
In the doubles Trisha and Fiona played some great games winning two of their pool matches. Amy and Lucy teamed up and improved as a combination throughout the day, making it through to the girls doubles final before going down in a tight game to the team from Kristin, finishing runners up for the girls doubles competition.
Congratulations to both of our badminton teams on two days of great badminton and outstanding representation of AJHS.
AJHS Student Sporting Achievements for Sports Prizegiving
We have an amazing sporting community with many of our students involved in numerous sports activities outside of AJHS school sports.
As part of our preparation for our annual Sports Prize Giving, we require students to complete the following form if they have had any involvement or selection in the following sporting groups between November 1st 2022 and October 31st 2023.
Selected in a National Team
Selected in a Regional Team (Harbour/Auckland)
Competed at a North Island or National Event
Competed at a Regional Event and had a top 3 placing
Had success in a club sports event
