Principal's Message 3rd of July
Celebrating the end of Term 2. Celebrating our students competing in events in the July holidays
We have had a fantastic week at the Gaiety preparing for our performances for Thursday. We are extremely grateful to John Harding and Lesley Burkes-Harding and Julieanne who have spent all week with us at the Gaiety, coaching us as professionals. A special mention to Matt Thomas and Olivia Bamber, Matt has driven the production behind the scenes for the full school and worked tirelessly to support staff and Olivia Bamber in her work to lead the production. Olivia will be very proud of her achievement and outcome, this was a wonderful show.
We enjoyed two days with Claire our dance choreographer and her daughter this week, adding the final touches to our dances and performance. It has been such a fantastic time to engage in the Arts and explore the talent of our young people and wider opportunities. I have been impressed with the effort and personal challenge students have engaged in this week; pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone has been a normal this week, fully embraced and led by the students, particularly our Senior school.
This Friday we celebrate our term with an assembly at 10am and House Netball at 11-1pm. End of Term 2 reports are currently being checked and will be sent out to whanau soon. Reports and production at the same time bring a whole new challenge to school life.
This week Eleanor Dickie has tended her resignation. Eleanor has been a part time teacher at AAS three years. We thank Eleanor for her service and support and wish her all the best. Our students will have fond memories of exploring arts, bees and topic with Ms Dickie.
Next Term we have significant internals for Yrs 11-13 so this term is a really important term. Our Year 10 students will sit the CAA (Common Assessment Activity). We have parent information evenings for 2025 and parent & student conferences. We will be trialing conferences during some school time and after school, to try and give more time with whanau, and to assist with after-school workload for staff. Please note dates below.
