Three-Way Conversations - Term 2 2024

Fiona Mackley —

Three-way conversations allow your child to share their progress and learning, their teacher to talk about the progress your child has made and their next learning steps, and yourself the opportunity to listen to your child. You will be able to ask your child and their teacher questions about your child’s learning.

Our three-way conversations on Wednesday the 22nd of May between 12.30pm and 7pm. Please note that the Year 5/6 three-way conversations will be over the later dates of the 4th and 5th of June and are after school between 3pm and 6.30pm.

Because the interviews are beginning at 12.30pm on Wednesday the 22nd of May we are asking for families to collect their children at lunchtime (between 12pm and 12.30pm). We really appreciate your assistance. Children in the Year 5/6 classes (Tororaro and Mānuka) will have school as normal on Wednesday the 22nd of May - they do not need to go home early.

Asking your child questions that relate specifically to their learning is important. We will provide you with some prompts at your child’s three-way conversation.

Some learning-focused examples are:

Q. What were you learning to do in this piece of work?

Q. What were the steps you went through to learn this?

Q. What helped you to learn this?

Q. What do you need to learn next?

Q. What are you most proud of? Why?

Q. Which area of learning do you find easiest? Why?

Q. Which area of learning do you find trickiest? Why?

Q. What could we do together to help you with this learning?

The purpose of our three-way conversations is for all people attending to share information that will have a positive impact on our learners.

It’s really important that our students enjoy this process so if you have any concerns about your child's learning please make a further appointment with your child’s teacher.
